Together We Can Do It!
At the heart of this fundraiser are the creations of Ovila St. Jean, a beloved violin maker, artist, and musician from Wandering River, Alberta. Over his lifetime, St. Jean crafted hundreds of violins for students and music enthusiasts alike, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire. Though he passed away in 2018, his work lives on—and now, you can own a piece of it.
Forty of St. Jean's non-playable violins, generously donated from the collection of artist and musician Caroline Parke, have been reimagined as breathtaking art pieces. One violin, in particular, has become the star of this event. Carefully selected by Roxy board member Pat Rypien, this violin was transformed into a stunning tribute to a simpler, more nostalgic time—a scene reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie.
Renowned artist and photographer Donna Bilyk, a former resident of the Crowsnest Pass, brought this vision to life. After exchanging ideas and sketches, Bilyk created a masterpiece that evokes the magic and warmth of an old-fashioned Christmas.
This extraordinary artwork captures the heart of the holiday season and the spirit of the Roxy’s revival. Place your bid to own a piece of this beautiful story—and help bring the Roxy Theater back to life while celebrating the timeless charm of Ovila St. Jean's legacy.
